Photona is an annual immersive light and media show at UNCSA, showcasing cutting-edge lighting and visual storytelling. The production blends technology and artistry, creating a unique experience that pushes creative and technical boundaries. This is a fourth-year project where the class leads the process. We receive gear from various company donations and have it up and running within a week.
As the Production Manager for Photona Vision, I oversaw the planning and execution of the production, coordinating between departments to ensure a seamless workflow. I managed schedules, facilitated communication between creative and technical teams, and handled logistics for gear acquisition and installation.
Managing multiple moving parts—including high-powered lighting, tight timelines, coordinating with different companies for sponsorships, arranging gear transportation, and navigating budget constraints—required adaptability and precise planning. I also worked to secure equipment, balancing budget constraints while negotiating sponsorships and in-kind donations from vendors.
Through proactive problem-solving, clear communication, and detailed organization, I ensured that Photona Vision ran smoothly, providing audiences with an immersive and technically ambitious experience.
